Man Arrested Again in Involvement on Stolen Checks

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation of a reported fraud that had occurred at a financial institution back on May 5th of this year in the Town of Cortlandville.


During the investigation, officers were able to determine 36 year old Matthew S. Clark, had conspired with another suspect in the passing of a stolen check. The Sheriff’s Office then issued warrants for Clark and the unnamed conspirator’s arrest.

Clark was found and arrested on July 22nd by officers. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd, a Felony, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th, Petit Larceny, and Conspiracy in the 5th, all Misdemeanors.

He was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process and later released on his own recognizance. The Sheriff’s Office says his co-conspirator has not been arrested yet on their warrant.

Clark is due in Cortlandville Town Court next month.
