Last night (April 21) the Village of Groton police departed responded to a report of a domestic dispute involving a handgun. When officers arrived on scene the suspect fled on foot into a wooded area located behind the residence.
The initial call reported to officers was the suspect pointed a handgun at two individuals that were located at the residence.
Police were able to located the suspect a short distance away from the residence and taken into police custody with aid from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police.
The suspect was then identified as 41 year old Robert S. Bailey of the Village of Groton.
He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree, a class D Felony, menacing in the 2nd degree (2 counts), a class A Misdemeanor, and endangering the welfare of a child (2 counts), a class A Misdemeanor.
He was processed and taken to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office where he is waiting arraignment.
