Man Airlifted to Upstate Hospital With Severe Injuries After Incident at Tinker Falls

The Truxton Fire Department is crediting their years of training and experience after a morning rescue at Tinker Falls off of Route 91. The Fire Department says they responded to a call Sunday morning, August 11th for a person who was down and had multiple injuries at the base of Tinker Falls. The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office told X101 News, the patient was a male who had “severe” injuries.
Emergency personnel from Smith Ambulance, State Police, the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, and LifeNet Helicopter, were also dispatched to assist. Truxton Fire says once getting to the location of the injured male, they safely placed him in a stokes basket and proceeded to carry it 100 yards to the departments UTV and rescue trailer. Rescuers had to navigate slippery rocks, and wet grounds while transporting the patient to safety.
After safely loading the patient onto the UTV, he was then transported another mile to a landing zone that was set up for LifeNet for transportation to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
His current condition is unknown at this time. The Sheriff’s says the investigation is ongoing.
