Lt. Troyer To Retire After Nearly 40 Years With Cortland Police Department

After nearly 40 years on the job, Lieutenant Rick Troyer announced he will retire from the City of Cortland Police Department at the end of this month.

Troyer began his career as a patrol officer with the Cortland Police Department in September 1979. He was promoted to Uniform Sergeant in May 1993 and transferred to the Detective Division a year later.

In August 2010, Lt. Troyer was promoted to his present position as Detective Lieutenant where he oversees the department’s Criminal Investigation Division and serves as Public Information Officer.

He’ll be succeeded at the end of this month by Detective Sgt. Michael Strangeway.
