Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul will be at SUNY Cortland next week to outline Governor Cuomo’s Executive Budget for Fiscal Year 2021, which is currently being debated in Albany by members of the state legislature.
Hochul’s presentation is set for Wednesday (February 5) at 1:15 p.m. in Brockway Hall’s Jacobus Lounge.
SGA President Chester Bennett will introduce the Lt. governor, who will then give a detailed presentation on Gov. Cuomo’s recent state budget proposal.
Among other initiatives, the plan expands the Excelsior free tuition program, invests more into SUNY campuses and commits $33 billion to combating climate change.
Hochul has indicated that she will be available to answer questions after the presentation.
All members of the campus and extended community are welcome to attend, with the Governor’s Office requesting anyone who plans on doing so to RSVP Colleen Deacon at Colleen.Deacon@exec.ny.gov.
Brockway Hall is located at 32 Graham Ave.
The public is welcome to park in the tiered lots across Graham Avenue and down the hill, next to the Miller Building.
Hochuls visit to Cortland is one of several talks being given across the state to win public support for Cuomo’s plan, which is also being considered by state legislators over the next several weeks during their joint budget hearings, which run until Thursday, February 13.
