Looking to Change Your Political Party Affiliation? Deadline is This Saturday

Registered voters who are thinking about changing their political party affiliation have until this Saturday, February 14, to do so. Saturday is the deadline to change your party affiliation before the primary elections on June 23, the Cortland County Board of Elections says.

June’s primary election within New York State is closed, meaning to vote in the primary, you must be an enrolled member of the specific party. The primary election allows voters to choose their candidates of that specific party for the general election in November.

Those who do not submit their enrollment change request to the Board of Elections by the 14 will have their enrollment change 7 days following the June primary election. The Board of Elections Office will be open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 112 River Street in Cortland.

The Board of Elections added if you plan to mail an application, it must be received by the Board of Elections on February 14. You may also change your enrollment online by clicking HERE.
