In response to long lines and a backed up traffic log, officials in Cortland County have extended the drive-through hours at the Department of Motor Vehicles office on River Street to every Monday through Friday from 8:30AM-12:30PM.
The changes are effective immediately and follow last week’s announcement that the office would reduce operations to pick-up/drop-off transactions on Tuesdays and Thursdays only, in line with restrictions put in place by Governor Cuomo’s COVID-19 executive orders.
However, the overwhelming demand that resulted on these days quickly proved that schedule to be infeasible, which led to the most recent update by county leaders.
The following transactions are accepting for drop off and pick up through the drive through window:
- Dealer transactions (include blank check)
- Person to person new registrations (include blank check)
- Registration renewals including vehicles, trailers, boats, etc (include check)
- License plate surrenders (check or cash)
Payments are being accepted by check only and all dropped off transactions will be available for pick up in one week.
Transactions may also be mailed to:
112 River Street
Cortland, NY 13045
OR dropped off in blue DMV boxes at:
- Outside the Courthouse employee entrance
- Cortlandville Town Hall
- Homer Town Hall
- Old Marathon Town Hall
