Local WWII Vet fighting covid ahead of 100th birthday
Local News January 9, 2021Local WWII Veteran Maynard Cottom turns 100 later this month.
Unfortunately, his celebration is limited to another window visit by loved ones at Crown Park nursing home.
It’s been months since they could be closer than that, separated by a pandemic that Cottom now deals with himself.
His latest fight is battling a COVID-19 diagnosis. Legion officials say at this point he is doing okay.
Cottom’s daughter, Laura Call, belongs to American Legion Auxiliary Unit 465.
A collection has started to flood his room with birthday cards.
Those can be sent to Crown Park, 28 Kellogg Rd., Cortland, NY. 13045.
