The U.S. Small Business Association (SBA) Syracuse District Office has named Mark Braun, owner of Doug’s Fish Fry, as the Upstate New York 2024 Rural Small Business Owner of the Year. The recognition comes during National Small Business Week, which runs through May 4th.

“We cannot even begin to describe how thankful we are to all of you, it really does take a village. All of our amazing customers, our hardworking crew, our wonderful community, our dedicated charitable partners, the SBA for their continued support and guidance and so much more.”

Doug’s Fish Fry said in a social media posting.

National Small Business Week is a tradition dating back over 60 years. Founded to recognize small businesses throughout the country. The SBA says for candidates to be recognized for the award, they’re evaluated on their businesses longevity, growth in both employees and profit, overall resilience, and their involvement within the community they serve.
