Local researchers look at effects of childhood trauma on future violence

Local News

Linda Brownell Glover and Nancy Dickerson are researchers with the Cortland Aid to Victims of Violence (AVV) program run through the YWCA.

They’re currently conducting a survey to gather data on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) to see if they have any potential relationships with future domestic violence victimization.

In order to draw up a local picture of the issue, their survey will now compile data from community over the next several months, which can be taken with complete confidentiality by clicking here.

“We need DV victims AND non-victims to respond to the survey,” Glover said. “Men as well as women. We would appreciate anybody’s willingness to participate in the survey personally and/or make it available to clients to participate in. The survey is confidential. It was created via Google Forms. Nobody will know you responded. All we will see are aggregate responses. I believe it is set up to only allow one response per person.”
