A local business owner has been named the new President of the New York State Tavern Association during a recent election that took place in Warrensburg of the organization’s Board of Directors.

Tammy Timmerman of Cortland, NY, was elected. She is one of the owners of Willowbrook Golf Club in Cortland and has been for the past 24 years. Willowbrook Golf Club was purchased by Timmerman’s grandfather back in 1932 and then by her parents in 1968.

“Tammy’s leadership has been recognized by her colleagues and neighbors for years,” said Scott Wexler, Executive Director of the Empire State Restaurant & Tavern Association. “Her work as an officer of the state Association over the last few years have prepared her for the challenges ahead,’ Wexler added.

Timmerman has been a lifelong resident of the Cortland area. She has served her community as co-chair of the City of Cortland’s Stone Soup Gathering, Treasurer and Board Member of the Cortland County Visitors Bureau, and the President of the Cortland County Restaurant & Tavern Association.

“I’m looking forward to continuing the fight against the major wholesalers who use their economic power to charge our members exorbitant fees for small deliveries,” said Timmerman.

“As individual business owners our power is limited, but when we join together we can have a real impact,” she continued.
