Credit: Ria BurmanFounding Grateful Dead singer/guitarist Bob Weir has teamed up with country star Wynonna Judd to record a new version of his old band’s song, “Ramble On Rose,” which is available now as a digital single and via streaming services.

You also can check out the tune at the ANTI- Records label’s official YouTube channel.

“Ramble On Rose” also features Wynonna’s backing band, The Big Noise. Last week, Weir joined Wynonna & The Big Noise at their concert in San Francisco to perform 10 songs, including “Ramble On Rose,” as well as several other Grateful Dead songs and some Judds hits.

“They say that when the student is ready, the teacher appears,” Wynonna says of the collaborative tune. “Robert Weir showed up in my life just in time! And I am so very thankful to have yet another opportunity to celebrate our musical gifts together!!”

“Ramble On Rose” was written by late Grateful Dead frontman Jerry Garcia and his longtime lyricist, the late Robert Hunter. It first appeared on the band’s 1972 live album, Europe ’72.

Weir and his side group The Wolf Bros currently are in the middle of a five-night stand at the Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, California, that continues on Thursday, February 13, and wraps up on Saturday, the 15th. The trio — which also features producer/bassist Don Was and RatDog drummer Jay Lane — then will kick off a late winter/early spring U.S. tour that runs from a February 28 concert in Miami Beach, Florida, through an April 1 concert in Aspen, Colorado.

Bob also will be touring the States this summer with the Grateful Dead spinoff group Dead & Company. Visit for a full list of dates.
