The open house will run from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the headquarters at 21 Court Street.

Acting Chief Wayne Friedman stopped by to discuss the event.

The entire street will be closed off to traffic, from the intersection with Church Street to the NBT Bank on Main Street. Residents are encouraged to stop by the fire department and meet those who provide life-saving services to the community each and every day.

Trucks and equipment will be out for presentation, and there will be time to ask questions and learn more about the variety of services the department handles.

Next week is also National Fire Prevention Week.

Fire Prevention Coordinator Cpt. David Jensen also attended the interview and talked about some anecdotal prevention tips, as well as some upcoming outreach events the department is running this month.

Area elementary students also have the opportunity to take part in the annual poster contest run by the National Fire Prevention Association, which is based on a different theme each year (see above for this year’s theme).
