The Cortland Youth Bureau has announced that the organization has been affected by the nationwide lifeguard shortage. Currently, the youth bureau has about half of the required lifeguards it needs to keep normal operating hours for both Yaman Beach and Wickwire Pool.
Due to the shortage of lifeguards, Yaman Beach opening has now been pushed back to Monday, June 5th. However, the youth bureau remains optimistic that they will be able to find additional lifeguards.
Hiring for lifeguards continues with assistance from the youth bureau to also find lifeguard classes, covering certification costs, and increased wages. Those interested in becoming a lifeguard may contact the Cortland Youth Bureau at CortlandYB.RecDesk.com.
Wickwire Pool is expected to open on Saturday, June 24th.
