The Cortland County Legislature on Thursday night approved allowing an override of the tax levy limit. Among the other votes:
- To revive the County, City, Towns, Villages and Schools committee
- Replacement courthouse exit doors
- Hiring an architect for courthouse steps
- New highway signs recognizing Purple Heart medal recipients
- Airport hangar leases passed
- Social Services Commissioner Kristen Monroe was reappointed for another five years, which will include her 25th year
- Adding about $33,000 to the budget for new aerial digital images for 911 and the planning department was approved after some discussion
- Gave the new county mobility manager permission to be more flexible in pricing advertising space inside and outside of county transit buses
- More of the $9-million in federal COVID relief funds was allocated, including for courthouse repairs, the Area Agency on Aging and for body and dashboard cameras for the Sheriff’s department
