Last Thursday’s legislative session brought Agenda Item No. 2, authorizing an agreement with Bell & Spina Architects to begin the process of restoring the Dome and Cupola atop the courthouse.

The vote passed unanimously with legislators Linda Jones and Sandra Price excused from the meeting.

An appropriation of funding in the amount not exceeding $200,000 will go towards Bell & Spina Architects for specifications on the restoration of the dome/cupola. Recently, the county was awarded a grant exceeding $2.3 million dollars by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York for the restoration and preservation of the Cortland County Courthouse.

The Courthouse, built in 1924, will celebrate its centennial next year.
