League of Women Voters of Cortland County Seeking Nominations for Alice A. Walker Award

The League of Women Voters of Cortland County is now accepting nominations for this year’s Alice A. Walker Award. The award is presented to a person who reflects the qualities and values of former member and president of the League of Women Voters of Cortland County, Alice A. Walker.

The award will honor someone from Cortland County who demonstrates the volunteer leadership of Dr. Walker, the LWVCC says. Those include commitment to community service, an independent spirit and outlook, a clear sense of justice, and an ability to focus on an area of need within the community.

Additional information on the Alice A. Walker award is available online at LWVCortlandCounty.org. The organization asks nominations to include a description of how the nominee exemplifies the qualities of Alice A. Walker. All nominations are due by April 30 online.

The organization says the awardee will be their guest and receive the award during their annual dinner on Thursday, May 28 at the Center for the Arts of Homer. More information may also be obtained by contacting Kim Cameron (315) 427-8291, and Sheila Cohen (607) 345-0354.
