Late-Night Gas Hazard Call At SUNY Cortland Turns Out To Be ‘Stink Bomb’

Local News

(PHOTO–University Police say a stink bomb, similar to the one pictured, was the source of the odor that led to the initial hazard reports.)

What started out as a potential ‘hazardous condition’ call late last night turned out to be nothing more than a smelly prank.

Calls came in to University Police just before 12:30 a.m.

Emergency crews were dispatched to SUNY Cortland’s Bishop Hall, after reports of strong gas odors present on both the first and second floors.

Hazard teams were sent to the scene out of an abundance of precaution, along with responders from University Police.

X101 spoke with UPD this morning (May 3) who told us the gas odor ended up being somewhat of a prank, as one of the residents of that building apparently set off a ‘stink bomb,’ similar to the one pictured.
