Late Cars frontman Ric Ocasek cut his estranged wife, Paulina Porizkova, out of his will, according to public documents obtained by Page Six.
Page Six reports that Ocasek’s will features a section that reads, “I have made no provision for my wife Paulina Porizkova…as we are in the process of divorcing…Even if I should die before our divorce is final…Paulina is not entitled to any elective share…because she has abandoned me.”
Ric signed the will on August 28 of this year, less than three weeks before his death.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and the supermodel separated in 2017 after 28 years of marriage. The couple had two sons together, while Ric had four other sons from two previous marriages.
Ocasek died on September 15 at age 75 of heart disease while recovering from unspecified surgery that, according to Porizkova, took place two weeks before his passing and was not heart-related.
Following Ric’s death, Paulina’s spoke lovingly of him and revealed that despite their separation they still lived together.
In a note on her Instagram account posted in early October, Porizkova wrote that although Ocasek “could be aloof” and “not particularly social,” “when he decided to turn his focus on you, it was as if the sun came out. His smile and his gaze warmed you and made you feel like the most special person in the world.”
Following the publication of the Page Six article about Ocasek’s will, Porizkova posted another Instagram note that reads, “I’ve known about the will since the day after Ric passed. All you have heard from me since — is inspite of that. #loveneverdies” The message is accompanied by a photo of Ric on a motor scooter and Paulina and their sons on bicycles, all smiling.
