
Large drug bust at Econo Lodge in Cortland
Local News December 3, 2020Police executed a sizable drug bust yesterday morning at the Econo Lodge motel on Church Street in the city of Cortland.
Investigators became suspicious about unusually large foot traffic coming to and from a room at the motel, including several individuals described as “known drug users.”
Around 11:15 am, officers with the city police department, county sheriff’s office and state police conducted a joint search of the room.
Ultimately, they turned up 36 grams of crack cocaine, 48 bags of heroin, electronic scales and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The room’s resident, 54-year-old Thomas Martinez, was arrested and hit with three felonies for criminal possession of a controlled substance, on top of another misdemeanor for using drug paraphernalia.
Martinez is currently held at CPD awaiting arraignment.
