Cayuga Medical Center Vice President of Public Relations John Turner spoke with WXHC News Director Vinnie Bellardini and reflected on this morning’s special ceremony, which sent off two buses filled with health workers volunteering to join the COVID-19 fight in NYC.

Campus-to-Campus bus transportation was provided by Cornell University and will bring personnel directly to their assignment at New York Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan.

“This really started with a call for health care workers to staff overloaded hospitals across the country and New York State, particularly in NYC,” Turner said in the interview. “Last week, our CEO Dr. Martin Stallone sent out an email asking for volunteers to take on the project and the response was overwhelming. Then, it really just took off from there.”
