John Oates To Publish Autobiography in 2016

Music News

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, John Oates of Hall & Oates has inked a deal for his autobiography, according to The Associated Press. The still unnamed memoir will be published through St. Martin’s Press and will be culled from Oates’ ”’pretty detailed’ journals to tell an ‘intimate and fascinating’ story about his life and career.” The book is expected in late 2016.

Although Hall & Oates became household names via their 1980’s video, they had over a decade under their belts as a moderately successful duo. They hardly believed that videos were to be anything other than a curio to help promote their singles: “We were pioneers by default, because no one knew what to do, or how to do it. And they were begging people to make videos. Y’know, like, ‘Please, y’know, we need some programming here.’ So we, we made videos for everything. I mean, y’know, every opportunity we had. And we did it, y’know, of course, very cheaply and very quickly, because there was no such thing as, y’know, production values, like, y’know, ‘Hey, we’re not gonna show it unless it’s got the naked chicks over here with the thing,’ y’know? Y’know, it was just one of those things, we were there at the right time.”
