Last month, John Fogerty announced plans to put out a new live album featuring performances from a recent concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. Now, we’ve got official details about the release.
The album is titled John Fogerty — 50 Year Trip: Live at Red Rocks, and the previously reported October 25 release date has been changed to November 8. The collection, which will be available on CD and digitally, was recorded on June 20, 2019, and boasts performances of 17 songs from the ex-Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman’s show at the famous Denver-area venue.
The set focuses almost exclusively on the CCR tunes and solo material Fogerty played at the show, which was part of John’s ongoing My 50 Year Trip tour. Among the backing musicians joining Fogerty at the event were his sons Shane and Tyler.
“I’ve played Red Rocks a number of times over the years and it’s always magical,” Fogerty says, “but this time, to play with both of my sons on this amazing stage, will certainly go down as one of the major highlights of my life.”
In addition to the album, a concert film documenting the Red Rocks show will be screened in theaters across the U.S. for one day only: Monday, November 11.
The movie will include footage of the entire two-and-a-half-hour concert — including Fogerty’s live covers of some classic songs from the late 1960s, like The Who‘s “My Generation” and The Beatles‘ “With a Little Help from My Friends.” Those covers aren’t on the album.
Tickets to the screenings go on sale Friday, October 4, at FathomEvents.com.
John’s tour continues this Friday, September 13, with a performance in Telluride, Colorado.
