More details are expected this week about the situation within the walls of the Cortland County Jail.
A special Joint Committee meeting of the Judiciary & Public Safety and Buildings & Grounds Committees is set for 8:30 Wednesday (February 6) morning. That will be held in Room 304 of the Cortland County Office Building, 60 Central Avenue in Cortland.
The jail’s 60 inmates were all evacuated and brought to other nearby facilities a couple weeks ago after heavy rains leaked through the roof and caused flooding and other major damage inside the jail.
Sheriff Mark Helms says the State Department of Corrections has been at work ever since making its report and recommendations.
Be sure to stay tuned for more details on this meeting and the jail.
