Mike Eves: It’s X101 Always Classic. Coming up, one of our favorite local ones—it’s really become a fall tradition here at Homer Hops. With me is Jason Kristof, one of the owners of Homer Hops. Jason, how are you? We’re getting excited for it. It’s coming up this weekend, the annual Fall Festival.
Jason Kristof: I’m good, thanks Mike. It’s going to be a great day. We have a lot of fun things for the kids and the adults to do, and a great lineup for everybody.
Mike Eves: That’s right. Speaking of the lineup, you guys always get some great bands in there. Let’s talk about them. What time does the music begin Saturday?
Jason Kristof: The music starts at 1:00 and goes all day and night. We have Brad Allen and Allie Torto starting us off at 1:00. Then at 3:30, we have Crystal Vision taking the stage outdoors. After that, we have All Good starting at 6:00.
Mike Eves: Nice! A fun day of full music and things to do. Obviously, you guys always introduce a beer. Do you want to give us a little hint of the beer or break the news now? I always love to hear what kind of beer you guys introduce at the Fall Festival. Was it a pickle-style beer? What was it?
Jason Kristof: First of all, we have our three traditional fall beers coming back: Applesauced, Cries of the Carrots, and our Autumn Ale. Now we’re introducing—released on the Fall Festival day—our pickle beer, which we just officially picked the name of, thanks to all of our followers. We are going to go with the name No Big Dill.
Mike Eves: Awesome, I love it! Your followers are great. We always love your beer names, but that’s going to be pretty interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever had a pickle-style beer. You don’t hear those too often.
Jason Kristof: I tried it a couple times from a few places that had it out, and that made it so that I wanted to try one.
Mike Eves: That’s right. They always say you don’t know until you make one or own it at Homer Hops. Of course, the Fall Festival—you guys really get some great vendors in here too. We’re going to talk about that and the food. But before we get to that, how many vendors do you have again this year? I think it’s really grown, right? All kinds of different crafters and vendors?
Jason Kristof: We have all sorts of vendors coming. We have over 30 vendors coming—crafts, selling their goods, honey, a bunch of stuff coming out.
Mike Eves: That’s awesome. And we can’t forget some of our friends with the food trucks, right? A couple of these trucks coming back have been here in the past, haven’t they?
Jason Kristof: Some of our top food trucks are coming back: Cousin Maine Lobster and Food Rescue, two great food trucks.
Mike Eves: Those guys are awesome. You’re getting me hungry just thinking about those lobsters. One of the new things too, you guys have—excuse me if I’m getting this wrong—is it called Bugaloo? Is it a kids’ sensory truck? Is that what we were talking about here a little bit before?
Jason Kristof: We have a kids’ sensory truck coming. Basically, what they do is activities for the kids, mostly making homemade slime. So that’ll be fun for the kids. We also always have our pumpkin painting and face painting for them. We have a bunch of stuff for the kids.
Mike Eves: That’s right. Of course, the Homer Hops Fall Festival is coming up this Saturday out at Homer Hops. Jason, anything else you want to say before we’re out of time? It’s certainly such a fun time to come out here to Homer Hops.
Jason Kristof: All I’d like to say is I appreciate the radio station coming out, and I appreciate all the people that come out to Homer Hops. We couldn’t do it without all of them.
Mike Eves: That’s right. Of course, I feel like you have really positioned yourself in our community, so we appreciate what all you guys do up here. For X101 Always Classic, I’m Mike Eves.
