Teachers in the Ithaca City School District are holding a rally and march today to demand better pay and benefits.
Ithaca teachers are currently working without a contract. They are at an impasse in contract negotiations, according to statements from the Tompkins County Workers’ Center and the Ithaca Teachers Association.
They will hold a rally at 3:45 today in the Wegmans plaza on South Meadow Street
Teachers want a new contract with fair and competitive salaries, benefits and increased professional opportunities within the district.
The median pay of an Ithaca City School District teacher is around $51,000 a year.
