Around 8pm last Wednesday, Ithaca Police responded to the intersection of State Street and Floral Ave. in the City of Ithaca for a report of a man waving a gun in the air.
As officers arrived and began to search the area they found the man who matched the description given to police, but was not in possession of the reported gun. A short time later officers were alerted to a semi-automatic handgun that was located in the 200 block area of Floral Ave.
The gun was reportedly loaded at the time, but was secured and taken into evidence by police. IPD say the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could help Ithaca Police in their investigation is asked to contact them via their tip-line at 607-330-0000.
