Around 11 pm on Monday night, Ithaca Police responded to the 600 block of West State Street for a report of a person being shot.
As officers arrived and began their investigation, it was learned the shooting took place in a multiple-dwelling residential building on the 300 Block of North Meadow Street in Ithaca. Additional evidence was found at the location and police canvassed the area for further information and evidence.
Police learned multiple people had entered the building, with one firing a handgun at the victim. They then fled the area in a dark colored SUV. The SUV initially did not have any lights on and quickly pulled out into traffic, nearly causing an accident. The condition of the shooting victim is unknown.
As Ithaca Police were investigating the shooting, officers were alerted and dispatched to a stabbing that had occurred in the 600 block of Spence Road. As officers arrived, they found the victim bleeding heavily and proceeded to provide medical aid. The victim of the stabbing was transported to a regional trauma center and is expected to survive. The suspect fled the scene before IPD arrived.
Police do not believe the shooting and stabbing are related, and appear both victims were targeted by their attacker. IDP is asking anyone who may have any information to contact the department’s tip-line at 607-330-0000.
