Ithaca Police recently responded to an area residence on Thurston Avenue, arresting 29-year old Ankit Kirtania for felony Grand Larceny.
Kirtania was detained following a joint investigation by Cornell and Ithaca Police, Collier County Sheriff’s officers in Florida and the FBI. The arrest stemmed from internet scams that victimized numerous individuals across the country, including the elderly and other vulnerable citizens.
Kirtania is responsible for stealing over $100,000, and its expected that more will be uncovered as the investigation goes on. Kirtania was arraigned in Ithaca City Court and released on his own recognizance.
