Ithaca Police and Tompkins Sheriff Investigating Shots Fired Incident

On Tuesday, April 4th around 5:45 pm, officers from the Ithaca City Police Department were on a routine patrol when they heard what was believed to be two gunshots coming from the area of Elm St. and Floral Ave. in the City of Ithaca.



As officers arrived to the area to investigate, they began to speak with potential witnesses who informed police they saw one vehicle being shot at by an occupant in a second vehicle at the intersection of West State Street and Floral Ave.

Both suspected vehicles were able to flee from the scene before officers arrived, going in opposite directions from each other. The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Offices provided assistance to IPD in searching the area and were able to locate evidence of the shooting.
