On Sunday, January 29th, around 4 in the morning an Ithaca Police Officer observed a bicyclist violate traffic laws near the intersection of State Street and Plain Street in the City of Ithaca.
IPD conducted a traffic stop on the bicyclist. While interviewing the cyclist, officers suspected the cyclist gave them a fake name. When officers to place the suspect in custody, he began to resist arrest and struggled with officers. IPD was eventually able to take the cyclist into custody.
The suspect, who was eventually identified as 36 year old Brian Borders of Ithaca, was charged with False Personation, Resisting Arrest, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th, all Misdemeanors.
Borders was given appearance tickets for the charges listed above. However, Borders had a bench warrant out of Tompkins County Court to which he was remanded to Tompkins County Jail for.
