Ithaca Man Charged With Stealing and Damaging Merchandise at Walmart – Provided Officers With False Identity


Back on May 5th last year, Officers with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to Walmart in Cortlandville for a reported larceny that had taken place at the store. During an investigation, officers determined 23 year old Cameron Oliver of Ithaca, had not only stolen merchandise, but also damaged it in the process.

He was arrested and transported to the Sheriff’s Office for processing. It was after his release from being processed officer’s learned that Oliver had provided them a false identity and false information. A warrant was issued days later on May 12th, 2023 for him out of both the Town of Cortlandville and City of Cortland Courts.

On Tuesday, April 9th of this year, Oliver was arrested on his active warrants. He faces charges of Grand Larceny in the 4th, Falsifying Business Records in the 1st, both Felonies, Criminal Mischief, Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd, Forgery in the 3rd, and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd, all Misdemeanors.

Oliver was arraigned via the Centralized Arraignment Process and later released on his own recognizance. He is due in Cortland City Court and Cortlandville Town Court next week.
