Ithaca Man Arrested by Troopers After He Shoots Himself in the Foot

Just before 5 in the morning back on October 16th, State Police at Ithaca responded to a residence on Lake Country Avenue in the Town of Dryden for a report of a man with a self-inflicted shotgun wound to his toe.

Once Troopers arrived on scene, they learned the man, later identified as 21 year old Jacub J. Hemingway of Ithaca, had already been taken to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center via a private vehicle for treatment.

A further investigation by State Police at the residence found that Hemingway was in possession of three firearms. He also did not possess a pistol permit. A continued search also found Hemingway was in possession of brass knuckles, which are illegal to own in New York State.

Five days later, on October 21st Hemingway was arrested on charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd, a Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th, a Misdemeanor. He was processed and then transported to Tompkins County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.
