An Ithaca man was arrested yesterday (April 11) after a two-hour standoff with members of the Ithaca Police Department and Ithaca SWAT and CINT teams.
IPD officers responded to an apartment complex on West Village Place just before 1 p.m. on reports of a subject with a handgun. That subject was later identified as 23-year-old Jalin Boutwell.
When Police arrived, Boutwell refused to speak to them or come out of his apartment. Officers then established a perimeter and waited him out until about 3 p.m., when Boutwell finally exited his apartment under police direction and surrendered without further incident.
Thankfully, nobody was hurt in the incident.
Boutwell has been charged with a felony count of Criminal Possession of a Firearm.
He was arraigned in Ithaca City Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.
Police are not releasing his mugshot.
