Ithaca Man Arrested After Complaints of Stalking & Harassment

Local News

An Ithaca man was arrested yesterday (November 17) after several trespassing and harassment complaints were reported to police in the downtown area.

Identified as 62-two-year-old Richard Johnston, he’s also the subject of several recent stalking complaints in the area.

When police were able to locate him, Johnston was hostile and resisted arrest, causing one of the arresting officers to hit his head on a nearby tree trunk and lose consciousness momentarily.

Johnston was taken into custody without further incident and that officer was brought to a nearby hospital, where the severity of their injuries remain unclear.

Among his charges, Johnston was hit with Stalking in the 3rd degree and numerous counts of Trespassing and Harassment.

Officials also said more charges will be forthcoming.
