A little before 10pm on Thursday, April 27th, the Ithaca Fire Department responded to the ‘Jungle’ area behind Agway on Fulton Street in the City of Ithaca for a report of a large structure fire.

As firefighters were responding to the address, additional call came in reporting a large structure on fire. Due to the location’s lack of access, firefighters had to stretch over 1,100 feet of hose to make it to the scene of the fire.

The makeshift structure was empty at the time and completely engulfed in flames. Ithaca Firefighters were on scene for about 90 minutes battling the flames. Ithaca Fire noted in their release that due to the difficult access, additional engines were needed.

The right lane of Fulton Street was temporarily closed during the fire. Ithaca Police assisted Ithaca Fire at the scene. The cause of the fire is currently unknown and under investigation.
