Ithaca Business Owner Charged For Income and Sales Tax Fraud

Local News

An Ithaca business owner is facing felony charges for under-reporting state sales tax and income taxes.

State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman and the State Commissioner of Taxation and Finance say 59-year-old Jonathan Pargh has been charged with one count of grand larceny and one count of criminal tax fraud.

The charges come after Pargh underreported sales and income taxes from 2005 to 2012. The AG says Pargh failed to report over $86 thousand dollars worth of sales taxes and failed to pay over $48 thousand dollars in income tax.

Pargh owned two stores on the Ithaca Commons, a “head shop” called “3-D Light” and a women’s clothing and accessories store called “Loose Threads.”

Pargh has been arraigned on the charges and will appear in Tompkins County Court.
