Investigation Continues Into Shooting on Homer Ave. in Cortland

State Police Release Additional Information Into Monday’s Shooting in Cortland

Just before 1 o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, January 29th, an officer-involved shooting had taken place at a residence on Homer Ave. in the City of Cortland. The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office says the New York State Police will be handling the investigation.

Gunfire was exchanged within the residence with a person inside the residence sustaining injuries and was transported to Upstate Medical Center. No officers were injured. State Police have told X101 News that the investigation remains ongoing and there is no danger to the public.

Homer Ave. was Closed between Wheeler Ave. and Carroll Street for several hours. Officers from the City of Cortland Police Department, Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, and New York State Police all responded to the scene.
