Indivisible Cortland to Hold Rally Saturday Morning in Downtown Cortland

Indivisible Cortland County (ICC) says they will be holding a rally in the City of Cortland this coming Saturday, April 5th at 11am at the intersection of Port Watson and Main Streets. The organization says the rally will be part of a national day of action planning by numerous organizations including Indivisible, Hands Off! And 50501.

“This protest will take place at the intersection of Port Watson and Main Street in Cortland; the theme is “Hands Off” in order to call attention to this administration’s blatant attempts to gain control of processes and systems critical to our democracy, future and rights.”

The ICC stated in a release.

ICC organizers say their rally participants will be waving signs at the intersection and encourage vehicles passing through to honk their horns.

“Now’s the time to stand up and speak out together to protect all we believe in about our country,”

said Priscilla Berggren-Thomas, ICC steering committee member.

According to ICC, they are a political advocacy group that was formed in 2017. They say their mission is to protect the integrity of the American democratic process through resistance of current administrative policies in the federal government. The rally is being organized by local Karla Alwes, SUNY Cortland Professor Emerita, and Colleen Kattau, noted local singer-songwriter and SUNY Cortland Professor Emerita.
