Inaugural United Way for Cortland County’s Spring Day of Caring Happening
Today, April 3rd is the inaugural Spring Day of Caring. Volunteers will be out in full force collecting donated food items and doing a spring cleanup at the YMCA Cortland. The Day of Caring is the culmination of the food drive that’s happened over the last few weeks organized by the United Way for Cortland County with food being collected and organized to benefit the Food Bank of Central New York. Food was collected locally at 13 businesses.
The Central New York Food bank will distribute food items to the local food pantries in Cortland County.
Food items are still being collected and volunteers can still stop by at YMCA of Cortland between 10 and 5.
Volunteers are also hard at work at the YMCA on Tompkins Street doing what the United Way is calling a ‘spring refresh.’ Projects include gardening activities, playground rubber floor distribution, painting, and playroom cleaning.
