IKEA Syracuse Opens Friday at Destiny USA – X101 Gets Sneak Preview (Photos Included)
Upstate New York’s first-ever IKEA will open tomorrow, Friday November 21st at Destiny USA in Syracuse. The store fills in the space of the former At Home located on the south western side of the shopping mall. Customers may begin to line-up to shop the store at 7am tomorrow with grand opening celebrations kicking off at 9:45 and the store opening at 10am.

IKEA says the new store, a smaller format concept the company is now rolling out to smaller markets, will still offer affordable, well-designed home furnishings with a Swedish shopping experience. IKEA Syracuse will also have a bistro area where customers can select from a smaller food menu than full-sized stores, but still get the famous Swedish meatballs.
“This new format store for IKEA is super exciting. It’s important that we meet all the experiences of an IKEA store as best we can and the journey will feel like an IKEA store.” John Spence, Unit Manager at IKEA Syracuse told X101 News. “We have over 5,500 products on display in the store and we will have 3,000 products available for immediate take-away.”
The store is 70,000 square feet in size, about 325,000 square feet smaller than their Paramus New Jersey location, but still provides the true Ikea experience for customers, minus the large warehouse space.

Customers will be guided through a directional maze through different showrooms of the store. Cut-thrus are available for those who do not wish to walk the entire length of the showrooms. Customers will be greeted with inspired designs with all decor, furniture, and lighting available for purchase.
Larger items, which a majority will only be available for purchase online, will have a quick QR code on their price tag to allow customers quick access to purchasing the product. Items may be shipped to the store free of charge, or with a small fee to their homes. Ikea’s current Liverpool pick-up center will remain open, Spence told X101 News.

The showrooms at Ikea will change four times each year, allowing a fresh selection of merchandise for customers. Shopping carts, bags, and rollers are provided in-store. IKEA Syracuse will additionally have an “As Is” section towards the end of the showroom walk-thru where customers can purchase items at a discounted price.
Spence added IKEA also has an active offer for IKEA Family Members, which is a free to sign-up loyalty program, where members can spend and save. IKEA says for the next 7 days every $100 spent you’ll get $10 off. More information on the IKEA Family Membership can be found HERE.

Regular store hours will be Monday to Thursday 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM, Friday and Saturday 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM and Sunday 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
IKEA Syracuse will have special store hours for Black Friday, 7am to 9pm, Christmas Eve, 10am to 5pm, and New Year’s Eve, 10am to 5pm.
