Two separate accidents on Route 221 last night resulted in lane closures for over 6 hours.

Around 5:00 yesterday, a tractor trailer carrying propane lost control and rolled over off the road on Route 221 East Bound between Hunts Corners Road and Flint Road in Lapeer.

The driver sustained only minor injuries and the tanker was not damaged, allowing responding crews to pump the propane into an empty truck and avoid even more disaster.

That resulted in a lane closure until 11:00 last night.

Responders to the scene included volunteer crews from Marathon, assisted by Killawog Fire, Harford Fire, NYS Police, Cortland County Fire Coordinators, and the NYSDOT.

While at the scene, the volunteer crews from Marathon were dispatched to another motor vehicle crash and rollover on Route 221 just east of the Village of Marathon.

They responded immediately and thankfully, that driver was not injured.
