Ice Rink For Village of Homer Moves From Village Green

The Village of Homer Recreation Department has announced that for this year, the ice rink will be placed at Vernum Park on the basketball courts instead of on the Village Green. The reasoning was several factors both the Village of Homer, and Recreation Department considered before officially relocating the ice rink.

Those reasons included the basketball courts being a more level surface which will benefit the formation of ice, a secure area to avoid vandalism that has occurred in the past, lighting at night, locking the entrance to prevent people from going on in the event the ice has not formed.

The new location will also be near access to electricity which the recreation department added may be used for music and other events featuring the ice rink this year.
