The Village of Homer Trustees met Tuesday night from the Homer Town Hall where they received and accepted a grant from the Cortland Community Service club in the amount of $5,000.

This grant will help the village to purchase a portable ice rink for the Village Green.

Village Mayor Hall McCabe says the one they’ve looked at is around $10,000 to $11,000 and it can make its own ice. McCabe also pointed out that it’ll keep the water contained when we get those freeze-thaws.

The village also discussed how to get some more funding for the project as well.

The Village has accepted a donation of 200 dog waste bags from the Homer High School Reader and Leaders Club.

These dog waste bags will be put on 20 garbage cans throughout the village, along with 20 holders for the bags to be attached. Make sure you always clean up after your dog.

Village Police Chief Pittman also gave us an update on the department’s new E-Bike and the new patrol vehicle, saying they were recently detailed and almost ready for duty. They just need to be outfitted.
