Early Wednesday morning, May 10th, a call came into 9-1-1 dispatch of a vehicle accident and reported vehicle fire on I81 Southbound in Preble.
Officer’s from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office arrived and found an active vehicle fire in the right lane of the highway.
Preble and Homer Fire Departments responded to the scene of the fire. I81 was briefly shut down for about a half hour as firefighters extinguished the vehicle. Homer Fire Department noted the fire was difficult to extinguish due to leaking fuel.
Only minor injuries were reported in the accident.
