Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Day Announced by County

Cortland County and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYDEC) are teaming up to hold a household hazardous waste recycling program collection this Saturday, November 12th at the County Recycling Center.



The County Recycling Center is located at 137 S. Pendleton St. in the City of Cortland. Hours of operation for the collection will be between the hours of 8am and 12pm.

The event is open to Cortland County residents only and no appointment will be necessary.

A list of items accepted for recycling is below:

Oil Based outdoor paints          Flammable caulks and adhesives
Oil Based indoor paints            Household cleaning products
Artist Paints                              Photographic Chemicals
Automotive Paints                    Spray Can Paints
Developers                               Thinners
Mineral Spirits                          Drain Cleaners
Lacquers                                   Fluorescent Bulb & Ballasts
Oil Based Stains                       Spa & Pool Chemicals
Varnishes                                 Flammable Waxes and Abrasives
Pesticides                                Battery Acid
Herbicides                               Pet Supplies
Lawn Care Products                Ant Bait or Traps
