Homer Wrestling last night achieved a feat that hadn’t been done in over 50 years.

For the first time since 1967 a wrestler from Homer has won the state championships but not just one wrestler, but two.

Trojans, Talan Hubbard, won the 110 LB NYS championship & Sam Sorenson, won the 215 LB NYS championship in Albany.

Both are coming back to Homer today and you’re invited to the welcoming home parade.

From Homer wrestling:

“This afternoon we’re going to be celebrating our two state champions arrival home and would love to continue the amazing support with our community. We will be meeting at the front of the Homer High School (near the flag pole on 281) at 4:30 to line up. The parade is planned to commence at 5:00 tonight. We will continue through town and end at the Hi Lanes Bowling Alley. We would love for everyone to come out and celebrate our two NYS Championships. The last time Homer School District had a state champion was in 1967 and we want to recognize these young men amazing achievement!”

Also tomorrow night Homer-Cortland hockey plays Skaneateles for section 3 Championship at the War Memorial in Syracuse.
