Homer Residents To Decide From Two Options On New Village Sign

Local News

After much back and forth, Homer residents will now have two options to choose from when voting on a new village sign.

The Board of Trustees voted 5-0 Wednesday (September 11) night to strike a third option from consideration, which would’ve featured a Lincoln pennyhead to commemorate the former president’s acquaintance with various Homerites of the past.

What’s left on the upcoming ballot are two options: A Village-sponsored sign that reads “Historic Homer Village,” along with another design by resident John Hartsock that continues to feature the name of Homer-based American folk character, David Harum.

Residents will now get one vote per-person on a new sign choice. The design that gets the most outright votes will be declared the winner.

Ballots will be distributed in the upcoming Village water bills, which are expected to start going out October 1.
