A Homer High School freshman was featured on NBC’s Today Show with Hoda and Jenna this morning during a special piece entitled “Kids in the Spotlight.”
The segment showcases youth across the U.S. who are stepping up to make a difference in their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Homer’s own Elena Barrett founded her company, HuggyBox, in 2017, which allows users to send a “virtual hug” to their loved ones in the form of a perforated tear-off heart filled with a special message.
Additionally, having been adopted herself, Barrett also donates proceeds from each sale to help other adopted children find their forever homes through a partnership with the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
Visit her company website here.
