The Village of Homer is reminding residents of the village’s recycling and curb dumping regulations.
Curb dumping, which includes yard waste, garden clippings, branches and similar items are considered a violation within the village and are not allowed. Those who ignore the regulations could face being ticketed. Residents are asked to bring items to the compost site off of North Fulton Street.
Twice a year however, the village does make an exception for the regulations and provide a time frame for residents on the exception. Any other times are subject to being ticketed.
The two times a year are the months of May and October, where the village will pick these items up for residents instead of residents going to the compost site themselves.
With the Village of Homer offering the service twice a year, DPW crews are then able to work on other jobs within the village including the current sidewalk project.
Due to the amount of curbing dumping as of now, the village is offering a courtesy to residents and will be offering pick-ups through Friday. No other pick-ups will be scheduled for the rest of this month.
To ensure your items are picked-up at your residence you must call the office at 607-749-3322 by noon tomorrow (April 13). Items placed to the curb subsequent to this fate are subject to garbage/ recycling and curb dumping guidelines until May 1.
